Bright fireball over Antofagasta, Chile

A bright was seen and recorded flying across the night sky over Antofagasta, Chile at 23:51 UTC (20:30 local time) on February 25, 2018. The event lasted several seconds before the object disintegrated.

In cooperation with Exoss, the American Meteor Society (AMS) received 15 reports from Antofagasta, Arica and Parinacota, and Tarapaca. There are no reports of a sound associated with this event.

  1. There is no doubt that the number of fireballs asteroids and debris of some comets, have increased enormously. The reason is because the solar system has moved into region in space where it is encountering a higher density of these objects.
