• Unseasonal June winter storm to bring heavy snow and winds to Montana

    A strong and unseasonal winter storm is forecast to affect western and central Montana from June 20 to 22, 2025, bringing 30 to 60 cm (12 to 24 inches) of snow above 1 800 m (6 000 feet) and wind gusts up to 75.5 km/h (45 mph). An advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) which advises against all non-essential activities.

    At least four elderly women died of suspected heatstroke on June 17, 2025, in Japan’s Kanagawa, Shizuoka, Saitama, and Gunma Prefectures. More than 60 monitoring stations recorded temperatures at or above 35 °C (95°F). Temperatures are expected to rise until June 20, and a heat advisory is in place.
