Historic hailstorm hits Alicante, Spain

A massive hailstorm hit the Spanish city of Alicante, Valencia on the morning of November 23, 2021. The hailstorm was preceded by large amounts of rain in a very short period.
According to AEMET, a weather station in Alicante registered 46 mm (1.8 inches) of rain in just 25 minutes.
The Alicante-Elx airport registered 58 mm (2.28 inches) of rain in less than an hour. Of these, 47.5 mm (1.87 inches) in 30 minutes and 39.6 mm (1.55 inches) in 20 minutes.
The airport has reported the storm between 02:30 and 03:20 LT, with heavy hail starting at 03:10 LT.
