Deadly floods and mudslides hit Tajikistan
At least 12 people have died after heavy rain caused severe floods and mudslides in Tajikistan's Sughd Region on July 19, 2021.
According to the country's Committee of Emergency Situations, two people died, 15 homes and 3 km (1.8 miles) of roads were damaged in the Panjakent District. In a separate incident, 10 cattle herders lost their lives when mudslides swept over their pasture areas near Kishtudak village.
Floods have also hit Ayni district, damaging bridges, roads, power lines, and water infrastructure.
Dozens of homes and vehicles were also damaged in Ayani, Devashtic, and Mastchoh districts but there are no reports of casualties, according to Floodlist.
