Bright fireball over Cáceres and Ávila, Spain
A bright fireball was recorded over Spain at 03:06 UTC on April 12, 2019. The event lasted up to 7 seconds before the object disintegrated.
The event was recorded in the framework of the SMART project (University of Huelva), operated by the Southwestern Europe Meteor Network (SWEMN), from the meteor-observing stations located at La Hita (Toledo) and Sevilla.
"The fireball was generated by a rock from an asteroid that hit Earth's atmosphere at about 65 000 km/h (40 400 mph)," SMART's principal investigator José María Madiedo (University of Huelva)
It began over the province of Cáceres at an altitude of about 91 km (56 miles) and ended over the province of Ávila at a height of around 35 km (21.7 miles).
