Over 200 000 people in 15 of Sudan's 18 states have been affected by heavy rains and flash floods between October 8 and November 4, 2018. This is almost double the 122 500 people affected by floods the same time last year.

According to the Government of Sudan, over 19 640 homes were destroyed.

The worst affected states are Kassala with 47 500 people, Sennar 33 800 and West Kordofan 33 200 people.

UNOCHA said aid organizations continue to respond with food, emergency shelter and household supplies, and provide health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene services to the affected people.

In West Darfur, the decrease in the number of farm-related incidents has been attributed to the new measures introduced by the state government.

Humanitarian organizations continue to assist about 182 000 vulnerable people across the Abyei Area.
