Severe weather, including heavy rain, strong winds, dust storms, and thunderstorms, have been affecting Pakistan over the past few days.

As of May 14, at least 14 people were killed and 22 injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) on May 12.

Nine people were killed and 13 others suffered injuries in incidents of wall and roof collapse after a windstorm hit the area in the evening, Dawn News reported.

At least 5 students have been killed and several others are missing after a bridge collapsed at a tourist site in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The structure, in mountainous Neelum district, reportedly gave way as dozens of university students crossed it to view a waterfall.

Over the next 24 hours, heavy rain with gusty winds/dust storms are expected over several places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), FATA, Rawalpindi division, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.

The National Weather Forecasting Centre has advised the population to be on alert due to high risk of landslides in mountainous and sub-mountainous areas of KP, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
