EMSC is reporting M6.8 at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles), while the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported M7.1 at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles) in the Kumamoto Region, Kumamoto Prefecture. According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC), hazardous tsunami waves are possible within 300 km (186 miles) of the epicenter.
