A strong explosive eruption occurred at Shinmoedake volcano, part of the Kirishima volcanic complex on Kyushu Island, Japan, at approximately 15:37 JST (06:37 UTC) on July 3, 2025, sending an ash plume up to 6.7 km (22 000 feet) above sea level (a.s.l.). The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) had raised the volcanic alert to Level 3 on June 27, following increased volcanic unrest.

A new interstellar object, provisionally named A11pl3Z and approximately 20 km (12 miles) wide, has been confirmed as only the third known visitor from another star system to enter the Solar System.

A strong earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.1 hit near the coast of the Philippines at 23:07 UTC on June 27, 2025. The agency is reporting a depth of 101 km (63 miles). EMSC is reporting the same magnitude and depth. PHIVOLCS is reporting M6.1 at a depth of 85 km (53 miles).

A very bright daylight meteor exploded over Atlanta, Georgia, at 12:26 local time (16:26 UTC) on June 26, 2025, producing a sonic boom and damaging a home in Henry County. Additional fragments may have reached South Carolina.

A strong earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.2 hit the southern Mid-Atlantic Ridge at 22:16 UTC on June 25, 2025. The agency is reporting a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).

A strong and shallow earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.2 hit east of the Philippine Islands at 01:58 UTC (09:58 local time) on June 24, 2025. The agency is reporting a depth of 5 km (3.1 miles). Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) is reporting M6.3 at a depth of 34 km (21 miles).

A moderate eruption occurred at Mount Shinmoedake, part of the Kirishimayama volcano group in Kyushu, Japan, at approximately 16:37 JST (07:37 UTC) on June 22, 2025. The Japan Meteorological Agency reported an ash plume rising 500 m (1 640 feet) above the crater rim. The alert level remains at 2, with a 2 km (1.2 miles) exclusion zone around the crater.

A shallow earthquake registered by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) as M5.9 hit off the coast of Nemuro Peninsula, Hokkaido, at 21:23 UTC on June 21 (06:23 JST, June 22), 2025. The agency is reporting a depth of 20 km (12.4 miles). USGS is reporting M6.1 at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).
