Asteroid 2019 QH2 flew past Earth at 0.13 LD - fourth closest of the year

A newly discovered asteroid designated 2019 QH2 flew past Earth at 0.13 LD / 0.00033 AU (49 367 km / 30 675 miles) on August 20, 2019. This is the 37th known asteroid to flyby Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year and the fourth closest after 2019 AS5, 2019 EH1 and 2019 BZ3.

Asteroid 2019 QH2 belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids. It was first observed at Mt. Lemmon Survey, Arizona on August 21, one day after its close approach to Earth.

Its estimated diameter is between 2.2 and 5 m (7.2 - 16.4 feet) and it flew past us at a speed (relative to the Earth) of 14.07 km/s at 18:12 UTC.
