• Large and destructive tornadoes hit Southern U.S.

    A severe weather outbreak hit the Southern U.S. on November 29, 2022, bringing strong tornadoes, very large hail, and severe with gusts across parts of the lower to mid-Mississippi Valley, Mid-South, and parts of the Southeast. A few long-track strong tornadoes remain possible before the event is over.

  • Paralyzing lake effect snow to impact Great Lakes late this week, U.S.

    Periods of heavy lake effect snow will impact the Great Lakes through Sunday, November 20, 2022. Snowfall rates of 50+ mm (2 inches) per hour are expected, creating nearly impossible travel. Between 30 and 60 cm (1 and 2 feet) of snow, with local amounts in excess of 120 cm (4 feet), are likely.

    Radar imagery from Miami and Melbourne shows the center of Category 1 Hurricane “Nicole” has made landfall on the east coast of the Florida peninsula on North Hutchinson Island just south of Vero Beach at 08:00 UTC on November 10, 2022. Nicole is the latest calendar year hurricane to make landfall on the east coast of Florida on record, breaking the old record set by the Yankee Hurricane on November 4, 1935.

  • Tornado outbreak – Destructive tornadoes hit Texas and Oklahoma, leaving more than 100 000 customers without power

    Severe storms moving through the south-central U.S. on Friday, November 4, 2022, produced strong winds and heavy rain, hail and tornadoes in Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma, leaving damage and injuring people. The threat of tornadoes, some intense, continued across the ArkLaTex region overnight on November 5 as the cold front passes through the southern Plains.
