Tornado damages logistics warehouse in China’s Guangxi, injuring four

The tornado formed as severe storms moved across parts of Nanning on the afternoon of June 7, bringing heavy rain and damaging winds. Video from the area showed large sections of a warehouse roof torn away, while metal roofing sheets were lifted into the air by the winds.

According to Jimu News, four people were injured during the severe weather event. The outlet cited staff from the Xingning District Emergency Management Bureau, who said none of the injuries were life-threatening.

A business owner on Jinqiao Road told Jimu News that strong winds damaged several rolling shutter doors at his building materials factory despite efforts to secure the facility before the storm arrived. After the doors failed, rainwater entered the building and soaked part of the factory’s timber inventory.

The business owner said a nearby logistics park sustained heavy damage. A warehouse roof was reportedly torn apart by the tornado, and sections of metal roofing were blown into overhead power lines, triggering outages in the surrounding area. Workers were still cleaning up debris and water damage the following day.

A resident living near the logistics park said wind-driven rain forced residents to keep doors and windows shut throughout the storm. The resident said rainwater entered the house whenever a door or window was opened during the height of the storm.

According to Guangxi Power Grid, strong winds lifted the roof of a warehouse on Jinqiao Road and carried it into the electrical infrastructure, causing a line trip that disrupted electricity supply in areas around Nanwu Road, Yongwu Road, and northern Xiuxiang Avenue. Repair crews restored all affected lines by 23:35 LT on June 7.
