Asteroid 2019 ON3 flew past Earth at 0.56 LD

A newly discovered asteroid designated 2019 ON3 flew past Earth at 0.56 LD / 0.00142 AU (212 428 km / 131 997 miles) on July 29, 2019. This is the 34th known asteroid to flyby Earth within 1 LD since the start of the year and the 8th this month.

2019 ON3 belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids. It was first observed at Pan-STARRS 2, Haleakala, Hawaii on July 30.

Its estimated diameter is between 7.4 and 16 m (24 –  52 feet).

The object flew past us at 01:19 UTC on July 29 at a speed (relative to the Earth) of 14.16 km/s.
