A newly discovered asteroid designated 2019 LY4 flew past Earth at 0.22 LD / 0.00056 AU (83 774 km / 52 055 miles) on June 6, 2019. This is the 25th known asteroid to flyby Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year.

This object belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids. It was first observed on June 6 and made known to the public on June 17.

Its estimated diameter is between 7.3 and 16 m (23.9 – 52.4 feet) and it flew past Earth at a speed (relative to the Earth) of 20.74 km/s at 01:30 UTC.
