Green fireball explodes near the coast of eastern Florida
A bright green fireball streaked through the night sky near the coast of eastern Florida around 07:03 UTC (02:03 local time) on February 12, 2019. The event lasted several seconds and was followed by a loud rumble.
The American Meteor Society (AMS) received only 5 reports from residents living from Sebring to Jacksonville.

Residents reported an otherworldy burst of green and it passed over and a loud rumble after the flash.

A meteorite producing fireball was observed flying over Florida toward Cuba on February 1. Numerous fragments have been recovered.
NASA's JPL estimates the total impact energy at 1.4 kilotons, the largest produced by any fireball since July 25, 2018.
