Rare tornado hits the city of Gavar, Armenia

A rare tornado hit the city of Gavar in Armenia on June 11, 2020.
Gagik Surenyan, head of the Meteorological Center of the Hydromet Service at the Ministry of Emergency Situations, said the phenomenon was considered unusual in the country.
"I was home when my friend called me and told me to look out the window. At first, I was very surprised, I couldn't believe my eyes when I realized what was happening," a resident named Marina Mukhsikhchoyan said.
"I was very scared because the tornado was very strong. We as a family were very scared and shocked," she added.
Surenyan posted photos of the event on his social media account with the caption, "A short while ago, a tornado was noticed in the city of Gavar, a rare meteorological phenomenon in Armenia."
