Shallow M6.3 earthquake hits Pacific-Antarctic ridge

A strong and shallow earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.3 hit Pacific-Antarctic ridge at 13:13 UTC on December 12, 2018. The agency is reporting a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). EMSC is reporting the same magnitude and depth.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was located 3 532 km (2 195 miles) SSW of Hanga Roa, Chile and 4 338 km (2 670 miles) SE of Wellington, New Zealand.

There are no people living within 100 km (62 miles).
