Extensive damage after large tornado hits Nicosia, Cyprus
A large tornado touched ground near Nicosia, the largest city on the island of Cyprus during the afternoon hours of October 21, 2018. There were no reports of injuries, but electric lines were cut by falling trees and homes were badly damaged.

The tornado reached heights of 200 m (650 feet), destroying roofs of homes and buildings and everything in its path.
Authorities are expected to make additional damage surveys on October 22.
Arrangements for temporary hotel accommodation were made by the civil defense authority for those who were unable to stay in their homes.
