At least 14 people have been injured and dozens of homes damaged after shallow M5.9 earthquake hit China's Yunnan Province at 02:31 UTC (10:31 local time) on September 8, 2018. The USGS registered the quake as M5.6 at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).
Provincial seismological bureau placed the epicenter near the town of Tongguan in Mojiang Hani Autonomous County and registered a depth of 11 km (6.8 miles). A total of 55 aftershocks were registered by 15:00 local time, with 1 above M3, two above M4 and one above M5.
Dozens of homes were damaged and at least 14 people suffered minor injuries.
Tremors were felt in the 15 towns in Mojiang as well as cities including Kunming, the provincial capital, the bureau said.

Traffic, telecommunications, and power supply have returned to normal in most parts of Tongguan, the town nearest to the epicenter.
Rescuers in Tongguan told Xinhua that the casualties would not be high as most villagers were farming outdoors when the quake struck.
