At least 59 people have died in flooding across the Ivory Coast since the start of the rainy season in mid-May, the government said on Thursday, July 2, 2026. Days of heavy rain triggered deadly flooding and landslides in Abidjan, in Attécoubé claiming 20 lives. Officials said some residents had returned to high-risk sites after previously being relocated.
