A new glacial flood started at Grímsvötn, a subglacial volcano under Vatnajökull, Iceland, on October 10, 2022, prompting authorities to raise the Aviation Color Code to Yellow and announce the State of Uncertainty.

Observation and gas flights have confirmed that the active vent at White Island/Whakaari volcano in New Zealand continues emitting very vigorous steam and gas plume. The Volcanic Alert Level remains at 2.

Pyroclastic flows and lava overflow were observed on the Sciara del Fuoco, Stromboli volcano on October 9, 2022.

Activity under Bulusan volcano, Philippines increased on October 6, 2022. While the volcano is still on Alert Level 0 (Normal), this is subject to change should current activity persist.

PHIVOLCS raised the Alert Level for Mayon volcano from 1 to 2 on October 7, 2022. The current unrest is driven by shallow magmatic processes that could eventually lead to phreatic eruptions or even precede hazardous magmatic eruption.

Home Reef volcano re-emerged above sea level on September 9, 2022, prompting authorities in Tonga to issue a Hazard Alert to all marines to sail at least 5 km (3.1 miles) away from the volcano. The volcano is located midway between Metis Shoal and Late Island in the central Tonga islands. It was first reported active in the mid-19th century when an ephemeral island formed.
