Deep M6.5 earthquake hits south of Fiji Islands
A deep earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.5 hit south of Fiji Islands at 20:03 UTC on April 13, 2025. The agency is reporting a depth of 270 km (168 miles). EMSC is reporting M6.5 at a depth of 262 km (163 miles).

The epicenter was located 617 km (383 miles) SSW of Houma, Tonga and 934 km (580 miles) SSE of Suva, Fiji.
Based on all available data, there is no tsunami threat from this earthquake, NWS PTWC said.
The USGS issued a Green alert for shaking-related fatalities and economic losses. There is a low likelihood of casualties and damage.
There are likely to be no affected structures in this region.
