An intense hailstorm hit Qingyuan District in China’s Hebei Province on June 14, 2022, causing severe damage to crops and other material losses.
The storm hit 7 townships around 23:00 LT on June 14, significantly impacting local agricultural activity and people’s lives.
Preliminary statistics show that the disaster affected 2 443 ha (6 000 acres) of crops such as watermelon, wheat and sunflower, causing damage worth about 15 million USD.
A sudden hailstorm also hit Miyun District, Beijing, dropping stones as large as an egg and causing considerable damage.
