Shallow M6.7 earthquake hits northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge

A very strong earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.7 hit northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge at 16:35 UTC on March 22, 2022. The agency is reporting a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). EMSC is reporting M6.3 at a depth of 10 km.

The epicenter was located about 1 173 km (730 miles) ENE of Rémire-Montjoly, Guyane, French Guiana and 1 311 km (815 miles) ENE of Albina, Marowijne, Suriname.

There are no people living within 100 km (62 miles).
