A strong and shallow earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.3 hit north of Ascension Island at 16:08 UTC on October 23, 2019. The agency is reporting a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). EMSC is reporting the same magnitude and depth.

The epicenter was located, 767 km (476 miles) N of Georgetown, Ascension, Saint Helena and 859 km (534 miles) SW of Greenville, Liberia.

There are no people living within 100 km (62 miles).

There are no tsunami warnings, watches or advisories in effect.
