China's northernmost city of Mohe, Heilongjiang Province received new season's first snow on September 15, 2019. According to the local observatory, the snow came 25 days earlier than last year.

The area, which is considered the coldest in China, typically experiences winter weather up to eight months with a record low of -52.3 °C (-62.14 °F).

Forecaster Yu Jiayi said "affected by cold air, a strong northwesterly wind hit the city on Sunday and the temperature dropped by 8 °C (46.4 °F)."

Furthermore, the lowest temperature over the next two days will be around -3 °C (37.4 °F) and is predicted to increase on September 19, reports said.

A tourist from Beijing expressed excitement over the unexpected early winter weather, saying "it's my first time in Mohe where I originally planned to experience the cool and colorful autumn. I never imagined that I can enjoy wintertime in advance."
