1 dead, 29 injured after M5.4 earthquake hits Sichuan, China

A shallow earthquake registered by the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) as M5.4 hit China's Sichuan Province at 22:42 UTC on September 7, 2019 (06:42 LT, September 8). The agency is reporting a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). Both USGS and EMSC is reporting M5.1 at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).
The epicenter was located under the city of Neijiang (population 546 854), 30 km (19 miles) SE of Chonglong (population 58 441) and 38 km (23 miles) NE of Zigong (population 689 961), Sichuan, China.
According to local government sources, at least 1 person was killed and 29 injured as of 10:00 LT. The injured have been hospitalized, with two of them in serious conditions.
At least 17 houses collapsed and 215 were damaged, Neijiang emergency bureau said.
