Eight-story building collapses after heavy rain hits Shimla, India

An eight-story building in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India collapsed on Thursday, September 30, 2021, after heavy rain and landslides hit the region.
According to the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority Director Sudesh Kumar Mokhta, the building at Shimla’s Ghoda Chowki near Hali Palace crumbled on Thursday because of a landslide triggered by recent rains.
As it was falling, the building struck two two-story structures, destroying them, Mokhta said, adding that two adjoining buildings, including a hotel, are in danger.
