Tornado tears through La Algaba, Seville, Spain

A powerful tornado ripped through La Algaba, Seville, on March 8, 2025, tearing off roofs, downing power lines, and causing structural damage.
The tornado, recorded near Alcalá del Río as it moved toward Torre de la Reina, left industrial buildings, rural homes, and livestock facilities severely affected.
One of the worst-hit areas was an industrial zone where a pallet company suffered extensive destruction, with losses estimated at over €200 000 ($217 380). Workers described the moment as an “infernal noise,” mistaking it for a plane crash before seeking shelter under a truck.
Emergency services, including firefighters, the Civil Guard, and technicians from the electricity supply company, responded swiftly. No injuries were reported, but residents now face rebuilding efforts, with insurance complications delaying immediate recovery.
The storm also brought heavy rain and strong winds to other parts of Seville, flooding homes and streets in Los Palacios and Villafranca, while fallen trees disrupted traffic in Alanís and Cazalla de la Sierra. Authorities have closed parks and public spaces as a precaution.
