Heavy rains caused severe floods in parts of the city of Abidjan, Ivory Coast on October 22, 2021, leaving homes damaged, roads blocked and vehicles stranded.

Attécoubé, one of the 10 urban communes of Abidjan, registered 106 mm (4.17 inches) of rain in a 12-hour period on October 22 while Youpogon registered 105 mm (4.13 inches). 60 mm (2.36 inches) of the total fell in just 30 minutes, according to climate expert Gilbert Kouame.1

Yopougon, Attécoubé, Abobo and Adjamé were the worst affected.

At least 4 people were killed and 4 others injured.
