A new eruption has been observed at Indonesia’s Batu Tara volcano on April 26, 2022, forcing the Darwin VAAC to raise the Aviation Color Code to Orange. The last known eruption of this volcano took place in 2015 (VEI 2).
Tremor at Ruapehu volcano now longest and strongest in 20 years, New Zealand
Elevated volcanic unrest continues at New Zealand’s Ruapehu volcano, dominated by strong volcanic tremor. The Crater Lake (Te Wai ā-moe) temperature remains stable at 37 °C (98.6 °F) and the Volcanic Alert Level remains at Level 2.

Seismic activity under the Ruang volcano in Indonesia’s North Sulawesi increased during the month of April, forcing authorities to raise the alert level to 2. The last eruption of this volcano took place in 2002 (VEI 4).

Earthquake swarm detected in the vicinity of Edgecumbe volcano, U.S.
m of earthquakes has been detected in the vicinity of Mount Edgecumbe volcano, beginning at about 10:00 UTC on April 11, 2022. The cause of the swarm is currently unknown. A small number of earthquakes were also recorded in 2020 but this swarm is unusual in the number of events. The last eruption of this volcano was in 2220 BCE (± 100 years).
