Shallow M6.0 earthquake hits Nias region, Indonesia

A strong and shallow earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.0 hit the Nias region of Indonesia at 23:58 UTC on April 19, 2021, at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). EMSC is reporting the same magnitude and depth.

The epicenter was located about 257 km (160 miles) S of Sinabang and 273 km (170 miles) SSW of Singkil, Aceh, Indonesia.

There are no people living within 100 km (62 miles).

117 000 people are estimated to have felt light shaking.
