Fairview Fire burns nearly 8 000 ha (20 000 acres), could take weeks to contain, California
The Fairview fire began on September 5, 2022, at Bautista Road and Fairview Avenue in the unincorporated county area of Hemet, California.
The fire grew quickly growing to the South and West, and also burning onto the San Bernardino National Forest.
The fire is now well established in the Bautista Canyon and Red Mountain areas on the southwest side of the San Jacinto Mountains.
It has so far burned nearly 8 100 ha (20 000 acres) and claimed two lives – a father and daughter, as they tried to escape.
