‘Deafening media silence’ on global protests
There is a “deafening” media silence on protests around the world protesting against the elites, according to Webster University Assistant Professor Ralph Schoellhammer.
“They are significant protests – we’re talking about 30 000 people in The Netherlands,” Prof Schoellhammer said, adding that the media and political campaign across the west against “disinformation” is part of a broader attempt to “undermine” organized protests against the agenda of the elites.
“That the best way to prevent the pushback from large numbers of people is if they don’t know that anything is going on.”
“Think about the situation of the truckers in Canada when they pulled their bank accounts… so this is undermining the possibility of those people to organize. “It’s what interest groups, what these players do – they see there is something coming that could be a threat to their power so they try to do something to undermine it.”

Occupy Wall Street and Extinction Rebellion were/are legitimate protest movements. Black Lives Matter had organizational problems, but was also an organic mass protest against police racism and violence. The media focused on the arson, not the millions of peaceful marchers. The newly forming labor unions in corporate America tends to get overlooked by corporate media.
All that said, the TEA party, Vaccine protests and Stop the Steal were pure Astroturf, and funded by the elites. Do your research. Follow the money. Look into Cambridge Analytica if you want to see how right-wing zombies are made and consent is manufactured.

Questions. How did you feel about the millions who marched against the Iraq war? Wouldn’t it have been nice if the citizenry had stopped that horror show? After the 2008 financial crash, did you support Occupy Wall Street? That was a decentralized populist protest outraged at the 1% elite. Were you ashamed the way the government stomped out that movement? How did you feel about the 2020 Black Lives Matter marches? Do you remember the police nightly beating peaceful protesters? How do you feel about non-violent environmental pipeline activists being charged as terrorists?
I am concerned that there has been so little in the way of peace marches, regarding Ukraine. And it’s unfortunate that while we bicker about the often least important issues (masks and pronouns) the harsh reality of climate catastrophe worsens. Our food is at risk! Outside of nuclear war, there is no greater global threat. The documenting of weather disasters is a part of why Watchers appeals to me.
As for the media… Everyone is responsible to themselves to seek out and sort out good information from bad information. How much do you know about your news sources? Do you question them? How easily are you manipulated? Do you fact check information before you share it? The correctness of your understanding of the actual world depends on it. Is that important to you? What if your opinions are based on lies?
