Anomalous and historic December derecho hits U.S.

An anomalous and historic December derecho, a windstorm associated with an unusually strong and fast-moving line of thunderstorms, swept from the U.S. Southwest to the Upper Midwest on December 15, 2021, traveling roughly 1 060 km (660 miles) in just over 10 hours.

  • The storm brought hurricane-force winds, dust storms, tornadoes, wildfires, snow squalls, and heavy rain across the middle of the country.
  • More than 400 000 homes and businesses lost electric power, and roughly 100 million people were under some type of weather warning.
  • A state of emergency was declared in Kansas and Iowa.
  • At least 5 people lost their lives.

The derecho was spawned by the interaction of a deep-low pressure system over the Northern High Plains and a high-pressure system to the west. This created a tight pressure gradient over the Rocky Mountains that generated fierce winds.1

High-wind warnings were issued from the Central and Southern High Plains to the Great Lakes, including storm warnings over the Great Lakes.

This event generated at least 55 hurricane-force gusts (those exceeding 120 km/h / 75 mph), breaking the previous one-day record of 53 set on August 10, 2020. The tracking began in 2004 and all previous records were set during the summer months.

Wind gusts exceeded 160 km/h (100 mph) in Colorado and dust storms swirled in the southeastern part of the state and in western Kansas.2

The animation above shows the evolution of the storm front and wind field between 00:00 UTC on December 15 to 09:00 UTC on December 16, 2021. The strongest winds appear bright yellow to white; more moderate winds (still gale-force) are shades of orange and bright purple. (35 meters per second equals roughly 130 km/h / 80 mph).

Massive dust storm sweeps through Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska, U.S.

Ahead of the front, parts of the Southern Plains into the Upper Midwest saw record-breaking warm temperatures, with Wisconsin and Iowa recording temperatures above 21 °C (70 °F).

The Storm Prediction Center reported 23 tornadoes, mostly in eastern Nebraska and Iowa. Western and central Iowa, and possibly, Minnesota saw their first December tornadoes on record.3

"To have this number of damaging wind storms at one time would be unusual any time of year. But to have this happen in December is really abnormal," said NWS meteorologist Brian Barjenbruch.

A 65-year-old man was killed in southeastern Minnesota when a 12 m (40 feet) high tree blew onto him outside his home. Dust storm in southwestern Kansas led to two separate crashes that killed 3 people, and in eastern Iowa, a semitrailer was struck by high winds and rolled onto its side, killing the driver.4

The event comes just a few days after a violent tornado outbreak in Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Illinois and Kentucky, in which at least 100 people lost their lives.5

  1. Its something for an easy smile, but incoming brown dwarf is changing the measures. If density of the free Space between Earth and Cuiper ten times increases, the Temperature (grows) and bodys are driven from status quo. The comets, asteroids and magnetic field disturbances up to annihilation (near zero state) are only first invitation and taste of next story, the Gravitation will be on the highness of Power soon, while the Sun darkens about 50-75% in next 200 years. What NASA in 1984 said about Pioneer: ” The Uknown Force had drown Pioneer 50 degrees from the right trajectory….”

  2. Excellent articulation of truth. NASA knows this, but it’s an inconvenient truth, as well as financially and politically dangerous to go against the present agenda, even if it’s based on lies.

  3. Although, NASA claims that the variations in Earth’s magnetic field aren’t causing today’s climate change https://climate.nasa.gov/ask-nasa-climate/3104/flip-flop-why-variations-in-earths-magnetic-field-arent-causing-todays-climate-change/ In reality, however, the rapid change in Earth’s magnetic is the reason for the massive earth changes that we are witnessing right now, including large scale global changes in atmospheric circulation. In fact, the global changes in the atmospheric large-scale circulation is a direct consequence of the rapid changes in Earth’s magnetic field and it is a complex process that current climate science has no idea about it. In recent decades, global atmospheric circulation structure and associated winds have been displaced toward the poles. Observed trends include the poleward expansion of the Hadley cell, the poleward shift and increase in mid-latitude westerly winds and contraction of the northern polar vortex. And, note that during the final phase of geomagnetic reversal the pattern of seasonal weather that were stable for thousands of years will undergo major changes, as a result of increase in magnetic radiation and a shift in Earth’s axis of rotation, although the advocates of man-made climate change are claiming that the shifting of Earth’s axis is also caused by human, hahahaha, https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/2020GL092114 https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2021/04/26/earth-axis-shift-climate-change-has-shifted-axis-of-rotation/7383383002/

    1. The shift in the Earth’s axis mentioned in the linked articles is not attributed to humans, but rather to melting ice caps. As the ice melts, the water is transferred to the equator via centripetal force. And although there are “scientists” who believe humans are melting the ice caps, the cycle of ice caps forming and melting has been occurring for over 100,000 years.

The current melting phase of the ice caps began over 10,000 years ago; long before humans could make any appreciable change to the environment.

Climate change is a normal feature of the Earth. The Earth’s climate has been changing since the planet was formed.
