Vigorous ash emissions have been observed rising from Nicaragua's Telica volcano on September 1, 2021.

According to the Washington VAAC, volcanic ash clouds were observed on webcam imagery rising up to 2.1 km (7 000 feet) above sea level at 14:20 UTC, drifting NE and ENE. Meteorological clouds obscured the summit in GOES-16 satellite imagery, the center added.1

Ash emissions continued through 20:00 UTC and most likely trough 01:20 UTC on September 2 when they were obscured by dense meteorological clouds.

"Earlier volcanic ash emissions dissipated near summit level but new emissions are possible overnight and expected to be similar in size and dissipate near the summit," the center reported at 01:54 UTC.
