A large landslide caused by heavy rains hit the southern Italian town of Rota Greca on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, resulting in damaged buildings and the evacuation of around 40 people.
According to fire crews, three buildings upstream from the town were initially damaged by the landslide, with 10 buildings evacuated as a precaution.

The crews had been on the scene since Monday evening, January 25, and had continued to monitor the area while providing help and assistance to those evacuated.
Heavy rain and clogging of the drainage channels reportedly triggered the landslide.
