A bright fireball streaked through the early morning sky over Belgium at 06:52 UTC on January 22, 2021. The International Meteor Organization (IMO) received 192 reports from the Netherlands, Belgium, northern France, and England, UK.
According to FRIPON, some meteorites may have dropped in northern Belgium, west of Brussels.
The fireball had an initial speed of 16.3 km/s and a final speed of 6 km/s.
The final speed and altitude of 27 km (17 miles) suggest that meteorites fell west of Brussels, FRIPON said.

The first field research was carried out on Sunday, January 24. Unfortunately, it snowed after the event, making the search for remains extremely difficult.
The research teams remain motivated, however, and appeal to the public to check for possible clues near them.
