Days of heavy rain trigger deadly flash floods, damage 250 houses in Ankara, Turkey

Heavy rains triggered severe flash flooding in Turkey's capital city of Ankara on June 11 and 12, 2020, leaving one person dead and about 250 houses damaged.
The Metropolitan Municipality of Ankara confirmed that hundreds of buildings and houses were impacted, and at least one person lost his life.
The emergency services attended to more than 1 500 calls from residents. Many streets were inundated, forcing some motorists to abandon their vehicles and move to safety.
Ankara mayor Mansur Yavas said the municipality has deployed 840 personnel and 430 vehicles to help with clean up and repair operations.
The country's meteorological agency reported that 14.4 mm (0.6 inches) of rain fell in Nallihan on June 11, and 31.9 mm (1.3 inches) in Sincan on June 12.
More heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast over central Anatolia, including over the already affected area, into June 16.

Dün Ankara'yı sel basınca Mansur Yavaş seçileli daha 15 ay oldu diyen CHP yandaşlarına soruyorum peki CHP, 20 yıldır kazandığı İzmir'de neden yapamadı? pic.twitter.com/90kowwxK6y— AK Antalyalı (@akantalyali) June 12, 2020
