Intense rains accompanied by hail and strong winds lashed the standing crops in Swabi in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, on April 25, 2020. The affected crops included tobacco, wheat, fruits, and vegetables.

Other areas also affected by the severe weather were Nazare, Bachai, Yaquibi, Mathra, Sikandra, Babu Banda, Shen Khela, and other places in Ghadon Amazai, Chotha Lahore, and Razar. Wheat harvest has been underway, while tobacco curing will begin in the next few days.

Agricultural leaders have appealed to the central and provincial governments to declare Swabi a disaster area, adding that the affected farmers should be provided with relief as soon as possible, and assessment of the areas should be conducted.

A corresponded reportedly visited the fields and met with farmers, who were described to be in shock following the disaster.
