Severe, fatal flooding continues across 14 provinces of Iran
Severe flooding continues across 14 provinces of Iran, while some areas in the country are still recovering from inundations that began in March. On April 13, the Iranian Red Crescent Society reported two fatalities, one injured, and one missing after floodwaters hit the northeastern province of Razavi Khorasan. Two children also died in the central province of Yazd.
The provinces hit hard by flooding in the past weeks are Isfahan, Alborz, Tehran, West and North Khorasan, Semnan, Fars, Qom, Kerman, Kermanshah, Golestan, Gilan, Lorestan, and Yazd.
200 people were evacuated to emergency accommodation after dozens of houses have been damaged. IRCS said relief supplies have been provided to more than 840 people in the affected province.
One of the worst-affected areas was Sabzevar, where two people died. Meanwhile, one person was reported missing in Khaf County.

In the central province of Yazd, flooding washed away a vehicle, which resulted in the death of two children. In Taft county, relief items have been distributed to affected families.
Over the next few days, floods are forecast to hit 20 provinces, affecting people who are already suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic.
