Mindanao M6.9 earthquake: 1 017 aftershocks, 14 172 homes damaged or destroyed, 12 people killed and 210 injured
The death toll after very shallow M6.9 earthquake hit Mindanao, Philippines on December 15, 2019, has risen to 12 on December 20, 2019. 210 people were injured and 1 is still missing, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) update released 18:00 LT on December 20.
A total of 137 271 people were affected in 123 barangays in Regions XI and XII, of which 21 457 are taking temporary shelter in 31 evacuation centers.
14 172 houses were damaged in Regions XI and XII, of which 2 760 totally and 11 412 partially.
The death toll has risen to 12 and the number of injured to 210 in regions XI and XII. One person is still reported as missing.
A total of 48 public structures were damaged, of which 9 totally, and 380 schools. In addition, a total of 25 health facilities were damaged and 90 other structures, of which 18 totally.
3 roads and 13 bridges were affected.
Water supply interruptions were reported in the municipalities of Magsaysay, Hagonoy, Davao City and Sulup on December 15. Water supply was restored in Hahonoy, Sulup and Davao City on December 19.

The earthquake took place at 06:11 UTC (14:11 LT), with PHIVOLCS reporting a depth of 3 km (1.8 miles), while the USGS reported M6.8 at a depth of 22.4 km (13.9 miles).
Mindanao was shaken by several earthquakes in the past months– a strong and shallow M5.9 north of Kadingilan on November 18, M6.5 in Cotabato on October 31, and M6.3 in North Cotabato on October 16 where at least 21 died and over 20 000 buildings were left in ruins.
