More than 3 000 vehicles stranded after landslides hit Jammu-Srinagar highway, India
Jammu-Srinagar national highway remained closed for the second consecutive day on November 28, 2019, after landslides triggered by heavy rains.
According to officials, heavy rain triggered 5 landslides in the Banihal-Ramban section on Wednesday, November 27, leaving more than 3 000 vehicles stranded on the road.
Traffic police said vehicles include mostly trucks, stranded at Jammu, Nagrota, Udhampur, Ramban, Chenani, Batote and Banihal and Kathua.
The latest reports mention the highway is now at least temporarily open for all traffic.
