A former low-pressure area whose pressure pummelled over 24 hPa within a 24-hour period making it a "bomb cyclone" is seen over the seas over Russian Far Easton November 15, 2019. This cyclone is expected to bring heaps of snow to Japan today until November 16 to 17.

ASCAT imagery shows sustained winds near typhoon strength are being seen just north of Hokkaido around the Kuril Islands.

"Skiers and snowboards rejoice though, this will help resorts get going across northern Japan with the sea effect snow as well bringing snow for most of the resorts in Hokkaido and maybe even as far south as the mountains across Niigata and Nagano," Speta added. "Places like Kagura in Yuzawa will get a nice bit of snow."
