Just a week after a direct hit by Typhoon "Faxai," two cities in Chiba Prefecture released evacuation advisories to more than 47 000 residents due to possible mudslides.
According to weather officials, torrential rains hit several parts of the prefecture on the morning of September 16, due to unstable atmospheric conditions.
Minamiboso city has issued evacuation advisories to approximately 1 300 residents after the area received 50 mm (2 inches) of rain in one hour.
The city of Tateyama has also given evacuation notices to all of its inhabitants, estimated 46 000.
Chances of thunderstorms and heavy rains are to take place just more than a week after Typhoon "Faxai" made landfall and caused massive power water outages in the area, Japan's meteorological agency said.
Aside from power shortages, the typhoon also caused water disruptions and destruction of farmlands.
