Asteroid 2019 QB1 flew past Earth at 0.32 LD

A newly discovered asteroid designated 2019 QB1 flew past Earth at a distance of 0.32 LD / 0.00083 AU (124 166 km / 77 153 miles) on August 22, 2019. This is the 36th known asteroid to flyby Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year, the second this month and the 10th since July 1.
Asteroid 2019 QB1 was first observed at Pan-STARRS 2, Haleakala, Hawaii on August 22, 2019 – two days after its close approach to our planet.
It belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids and has an estimated diameter between 9.3 and 21 m (30 – 39 feet).
The object flew past us at a speed (relative to the Earth) of 11.89 km/s at 11:55 UTC.
