Asteroid 2019 QD flew past Earth at 0.78 LD

A newly discovered asteroid designated 2019 QD flew past Earth at 0.78 LD / 0.00200 AU (299 195 km / 185 911 miles) on August 22, 2019. This is the 35th known asteroid to flyby Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year and the first since July 29.

2019 QD belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids. It was first observed at Mt. Lemmon Survey, Arizona, U.S. on August 21, 2019, one day before its close approach.

The asteroid has an estimated diameter of 4.7 - 11 m (15 - 36 feet) and it flew past Earth at a speed (relative to the Earth) of 15.10 km/s at 01:28 UTC on August 22, 2019.
