At least 14 people have been killed and 48 others remain missing after two large landslides hit southwestern China on July 23, 2019. The main cause for the landslides is heavy rainfall, authorities said.

According to CCTV, a landslide hit Shuicheng county of Guizhou province, burying 21 houses and leaving at least 13 people dead. 11 people were rescued and sent to the hospital while another 42 remain missing.

Another landslide hit a village in Guizhou's Hezhang county, killing one person and leaving 6 missing.

About 2.2 million people in Guizhou have been affected by floods and heavy winds in the first half of the year, Xinhua reported.
