A shallow M6.0 earthquake hit Balleny Islands region, the Southern Ocean at 10:33 UTC on July 23, 2019. The agency is reporting a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). EMSC registered it as M6.0 at a depth of 30 km (18 miles).

The epicenter was located 1 875 km (1 165 miles) SW of Bluff and 1 896 km (1 178 miles) SW of Invercargill (population 47 287), New Zealand.

There are no people living within 100 km (62 miles).
