Record cold July temperature in parts of Germany, rare July frost ravages Saxony
Cold Arctic air hit parts of Europe over the past couple of days, setting multiple low-temperature records were set across Germany. Cold temperatures were especially noticeable from Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia to Saxony.
An extremely cold night is behind us, only a few days after the extreme heat and tropical nights, wetter.com reports.
The Deutschendorf village in Saxony reported rare July ground frost on the night from July 3 to 4 as the temperature at a height of 5 cm (X inches) dropped to -2 C (XX F). Ground freezing during the month of July was reported in Germany for only 7 times, excluding mountain stations.
The mercury in Rotenburg in Lower Saxony lowered down to 2.9 ° C (37.2 º F) on July 4, 2019, breaking its all-time record temperature for July month.
Several regions across Germany reported record low temperatures on July 4, 2019. These include Quickborn 4 ºC (39.2 ºF), Gottingen 4 ºC (39.2 ºF), Soltau 4.1 ºC (39.4 ºF), Friesoythe 4.7 ºC (40.5 ºF), Lippstadt 4.8 ºC (40.6 ºF).
